Connect with Nature in the Borrowdale Oak Woods.

Not all Team Tortoise walks are about getting to mountain summits. All of our walks are about the journey but this one more than most.

Are you ready for a digital detox, want to see the splendor of the temperate rainforest trees in summer, want to see and listen to the birds, watch the river tumble by?

The Borrowdale Rainforest is now a National Nature Reserve, alive with plants, birds and animals. A perfect place to spend time just being with nature. This can have amazing benefits for physical and mental health. Let’s take time out to appreciate the beauty of the natural world. I will take you on a journey through this place that brings me so much joy. We might climb a hill, we might visit a cave, we might just sit by the river and watch the heron catch his lunch. Relaxed and happy feelings included.

The oak woods are a very tactile place and we will get up close with the remarkable plants here in a gentle and respectful way.
